DIY Animatronic Eyes
You won’t need an AnkerMake M5 to make your own animatronic eyes, just a standard 3D printer, servo ball-links, pushrods and Arduino circuit boards. However, it still uses a mechanism design commonly found in professional eye mechanisms, similar to the ones you see in theme parks as well as movies.

Most importantly, this project is designed to use snap-in eyes that are easily replaceable, and when combined with other 3D-printed components, they cast a highly realistic dome over the painted eye. For a much easier build, you can also opt for simple 3D-printed eyes. Ready to try the project yourself? Check out the instructions here.

DIY Animatronic Eyes

The requirements aren’t too high, but I’d recommend that you be fairly comfortable with 3D printing before attempting this project – you will need a printer that can reliably print at 0.15mm – 0.2mm layer height, and it’ll need to be calibrated well enough to print small parts to be quite strong, which also entails using decent-quality filament,” said its creator.
