Finally, someone has created a real-life Dr. Who Tardis that boasts an interior that’s larger than life. It was made by Greg Kumparak who first created a 3D computer model of the interior based on series featuring David Tennant as the Doctor, and then combined it with a graphics rendering engine to turn it into a 2D image and smartphone software so it would alter as phone passed over the model. The rendering job involves generating a 2D image from a 3D model stored in a scene file by using a computer program. This information describes the geometry, viewpoint, texture, lighting and shading of the virtual scene. In the final step, he used an AR app platform by chip-maker Qualcomm called Vuforia, to allow a smartphone to interact with the mini Tardis.
