The Motorola DROID X review units have begun shipping and here’s a first look at this beautiful handset. Just to recap, it features a 4.3-inch (854 x 480) display, 8MP camera, 1-GHz TI OMAP processor, 8GB of built-in memory, and HDMI-out. While the phone may not be 4G capable, “Google’s Andy Rubin called this the new ‘platinum’ Android device.” Video after the break. Click here for first picture in gallery.

It’s running a brand new version of Motoblur on top of Android 2.1, which seems a bit more integrated into the OS than the old version, rather than slathered on top like colorful, half-hardened rubber cement. I’m already in love the true multitouch keyboard.
