Electric Guitar Play DOOM Mod
H/t: Hackaday
We know that a tiny Intel 486 computer can run the game, but this gamer managed to use a Schecter Hellraiser Deluxe electric guitar to play DOOM. This required DOS Gamer to convert notes to MIDI files using Dodo MIDI 2, a VST plugin.

Once the notes were converted to MIDI files, they then had to be turned into keystrokes using loopMIDI and MIDIKey2Key. The former takes the MIDI data and sends it elsewhere, while the latter converts the MIDI files to keystrokes that enable DOS Gamer to play DOOM with the electric guitar. Let’s just say that despite it being a novel idea, you’re probably still better off playing with a standard keyboard and mouse. For those wondering, DOS Gamer says that the setup would probably work with an acoustic guitar that has a microphone attached.
