Researchers from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) unveil EmoPus, a strange octopus-inspired AI desk companion that can do more than just move around. It’s actually designed for multi-dimensional interactions, including having users converse with it by voice or even command EmoPus to complete simple tasks like grabbing objects.
The robot can also actively interact based on the user’s mental state, whether it be soothing the user’s arm with its tentacles or just offer a comforting tactile perception. User interaction causes EmoPus to shift its body around and provide real-time responses.
