Many already know that the main purpose of a router is to connect multiple networks and forward packets destined either for its own networks or other networks. However, Li-Fi technology aims to change that. Introducing the C-224 lamp, one of the first devices to use this new technology to transmit data through light, while doubling as light, thanks to an LED ring. It even functions when switched off, thanks to infrared technology.
Li-Fi is not just a faster way to connect to the internet, but the technology is also incredibly eco-friendly too. How so? A basic LED bulb can act as a router to the internet, and more importantly, no expensive radio towers are needed since you’d be relying on the 40-billion or so light bulbs that already exist. Plus, the technology is safer too, because it limits its usage to the area the light is shining at.
