Some may be familiar with TikTok’s latest cheese-pulling viral trend, and Doritos wanted to take it to the next level. So, they partnered with marketing agency VCCP London to set a new Guinness World Record for highest cheese pull by using a helicopter and a massive mountain of nachos at Cheddar Gorge in Somerset, South West England.
Inside this 16-foot by 14-foot nacho mountain was a pot containing a special 120 kg (265 lb) blend of of cheddar and mozzarella cheese. Induction knobs were used to melt this cheese before a helicopter flew over it and lowered a 4-foot-wide chip into the blend. Why did Frito-Lay decide upon this stunt? To celebrate National Guacamole Day of course, which happened to be on September 16 this year.

National Guacamole Day is the perfect time to launch an epic integrated campaign to celebrate Doritos’ Next Level Nachos and taking inspiration from movie trailers with helicopters, velociraptors and an iconic voiceover to boost the drama and match the crunch delivered by Doritos Dippers,” said Matt Lloyd, Creative Director at VCCP London.
