When launched in the first half of next year, Google Editions will give Amazon a run for its money. This electronic book store can be accessed from any device that has a web browser, and that includes the iPhone, Kindle, DROID Incredible, etc. Best of all, publishers determine just how much they’d like to sell their book for, with 55-percent of profits going to Google.

Google books will be able to be read by Kindle readers but will also support the “epub” open standard format backed by the International Digital Publishing Forum and which many publishers now use.
