Unlike standard pizza boxes, the GreenBox comes complete with built-in plates and even a storage unit for leftovers that fits in just about any refrigerator. Best of all, this isn’t yet another concept, but rather a real item that can be purchased by restaurants all over the world.
Pizza boxes are typically made from corrugated cardboard to keep pizzas hot, fresh and intact during delivery or takeout. Most are square, 10-18 inches, to fit various pizza sizes, some with perforations for portioning or grease absorbing layers. The “pizza saver” tripod, patented in 1985, prevents the lid from sagging onto the toppings. 3 billion pizza boxes are used in the US alone each year, but the wax or grease coatings make them hard to recycle, so we have compostable or reusable designs. Some have vents to reduce sogginess, others have foldable flaps for stacking or even built-in games for kids!
