H. Moser & Cie. have just unveiled their all-new Streamliner Chronograph “Blacker Than Black” watch at the Watches & Wonders show in Geneva, Switzerland that features a case covered in Vantablack, the world’s darkest material capable of absorbing 99.965% of visible light. Featuring a central seconds chronograph hand that works in conjunction with a central minutes chronograph hand, combined with the regular hour and minute hands.
When you view the “Blacker than Black” watch at H. Moser’s Watches & Wonders booth, the Vantablack coating literally causes it to nearly disappear from some angles. Unfortunately (or fortunately), this is just a concept…for now. The watchmaker is looking for ways to strengthen the material to make it more shock-resistant for future time pieces.

We envision one day to be able to have a Vantablack case [The watch was] very difficult to transport. The structure is quite fragile. It’s not something you can wear every day, or do whatever it is you do with your watches. It’s a very complicated process, but I think the most complicated part has been keeping this watch in a stable state while transporting it,” said Edouard Meylan, H. Moser CEO.
