The Hennssey Venom GT is now the world’s fastest production car, beating out the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, by achieving 265.7mph while driving on the runway at the Lemoore Naval Air Station in California. Continue reading for a video, more pictures, and additional information.

As we have previously reported, the Venom GT has a twin-turbo 7.0-liter V8 engine that develops 1244 bhp (928 kW) and 1155 lb-ft (1564 Nm) of torque. It enables the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds and hit an estimated top speed of 278 mph (447 km/h).
