Hubble Seyfert Galaxy NGC 4951 Black Hole
NASA / ESA’s Hubble Space Telescope captured brilliant seyfert galaxy NGC 4951 located 50 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Virgo. It’s classified as such due to its extremely energetic nature, with an active galactic nucleus (AGN).

Hubble Seyfert Galaxy NGC 4951 Black Hole
AGNs such as NGC 4951 are powered by supermassive black holes, as in when matter collapses into the black hole, it generates radiation across the entire electromagnetic spectrum, making it shine brightly. Speaking of black holes, astronomers used Hubble to help prove that supermassive black holes exist at the core of almost every galaxy in our known universe.

These observations of NGC 4951 were taken to provide valuable data for astronomers studying how galaxies evolve, with a particular focus on the star formation process. Hubble gathered this information, which is being combined with observations with the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) to support a JWST Treasury program,” said the NASA Hubble Mission Team.
