Hubble Space Telescope Globular Cluster Terzan 9 Cosmic Treasure Chest
The NASA / ESA Hubble Space Telescope has captured a stunning image of globular cluster Terzan 9 in the constellation Sagittarius, located towards the center of the Milky Way. It used its Wide Field Camera 3 and Advanced Camera for Surveys to provide a view of this globular cluster like you’ve never seen before.

What are globular clusters? They are basically stable, tightly bound groupings of tens of thousands to millions of stars, as can be seen in this image. There are so many stars in this image that it slightly resembles a massive cosmic treasure chest filled with gold. If you’re interested in seeing another globular cluster, there’s NGC 1898.
