If Batman owned an electric motorcycle, it’d surely be the stealthy-looking Harley Davidson LiveWire. Powered by a 55-kW electric motor that produces 75 hp and 52 lb-ft of instant torque, it hits 60mph in under 4-seconds. Regenerative braking in the rear captures electricity to recharge the battery during deceleration, with total range topping out at around 53 miles when fully charged. The company understands the demands of educating a customer base steeped in V-twin tradition, but thinks that the new bike’s distinct feel will ensure current owners are happy with what the brand is doing: “It weighs just 460 lbs. People that have ridden it are amazed at how light and nimble it feels. Some people may get on it thinking, ‘golf cart,’ but they get off thinking, ‘rocket ship,'” says Jeff Richlen, Chief Engineer of Harley-Davidson.
