This amazing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle demake by 64 Bits is essentially a creative reimagining of the 2024 game as a 1992-style LucasArts point-and-click adventure game, complete with pixel art and that classic SCUMM engine vibe.
The demake captures that same retro charm, including the blocky sprites, vibrant 2D backgrounds, and a focus on story-driven exploration that defined LucasArts’ early ’90s adventures. While it draws heavily from Fate of Atlantis, it also shares DNA with other LucasArts hits from the era like Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge for its humor and art style.

For those unfamiliar with the SCUMM engine, it basically stands for Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion. It’s a game engine developed by LucasArts in 1987 for their point-and-click adventure games. Maniac Mansion was the first to use it and became the backbone for many of their classic titles in the late ’80s and ’90s, like the two titles mentioned previously, as well as Day of the Tentacle.

You have no idea how happy you made me with this…I’m 41 years old and have spent most of my childhood playing all the classic Lucas Arts games: Maniac Mansion, Zac McKracken, Monkey Island (I noticed that rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle reference!) and indeed, the two Indiana Jones adventures. I’d pay good money for a new Indy game in this style… hell, a new installment in any of the old Lucasarts series would work,” said one fan.
