We’re a little over a month away (Feb. 17) from the official opening of Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood, and this week, at least one lucky group was able to preview the area ahead of its soft opening in 12-days. Visitors will be able to purchase a Power-Up Band as they enter Super Nintendo World, which can be synced to the theme park’s official app and keep track of points earned for hitting coin blocks.

The points you earn in Super Nintendo World by hitting coin blocks, riding attractions and playing the games, can then be converted into Nintendo Amiibo credits. Now the main and biggest attraction here is Bowser’s Challenge, an augmented reality Mario Kart-inspired ride where guests will compete on Team Mario to defeat Bowser and win the Golden Cup. After coming out victorious, you’re then shuttled into the 1-Up Factory, a souvenir shop loaded with Mario Bros. merchandise.

Universal designed the whole experience. What you’re look at is entirely next level. It is an actual moving ride, you will go through a series of environments where there is video mapping. There are LED screens, there is physical animation, and there is special effect. How you manage to get all of that seamlessly together and make it feel like it’s one thing? That’s really the art of the whole thing. You’re going to see Super Mario with a green light over your right shoulder,” said Jon Corfino, Universal Creative Vice President to ComicBook.com.
