Apple officially announced the iPhone 5 today, and pre-orders begin on September 14th. Everything leaked thus far has been correct, as it features a 16:9 panoramic 4-inch Retina Display, 4G LTE connectivity, an 8.0-megapixel camera, all packed into a shell that’s 18% thinner than its predecessor. For those who have a grandfathered unlimited data plan with AT&T, good news, you’ll be able to keep it, should you upgrade to the iPhone 5 (5GB of 4G LTE data before being throttled to 2G speeds). It’s obvious that the iPhone 5 shares the same design language as the iPhone 4 and 4S before it, and it’s clear that Apple was very careful when it came to modifying that chassis. Jony Ive said so himself during the event. There are plenty of improvements, but there are also a lot of similarities.
