Lexar’s new GOLD SD UHS-II and SILVER PRO SD UHS-II memory cards are the first to be made from 316 stainless steel. Since both are also IP68 rated, they can easily handle environments with water, dust, and even some bending, making them ideal for outdoor filming.
The SD cards aren’t just rugged, but ultra fast as well with read speeds of up to 280MB/s. What makes 316 stainless steel so great is that it contains roughly 2-3% of molybdenum in addition to chromium and nickel, which enhances its corrosion resistance. There’s no word yet on pricing or availability.
