LG put all the extras into this sleek smartphone. If nothing but the best will do, the LG GC900 Viewty Smart should definitely be on your short list. Continue reading for part one of the view.

Overview

Its design may not be the slimmest, but it offers great specs, including an impressive autofocus 8.0-megapixel camera with Schneider-Kreuznach optics, a 3.0-inch (800 x 480) capacitive touchscreen display, 1.5GB of built-in memory, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, Bluetooth 2.1, microSD expansion, A-GPS, and TV-out.

Design

For the first part of our review, we’ll be going over the GC900’s sleek design. At 108.9 x 56.1 x 12.4mm and 102g, it boasts brushed silver back, paired with a shiny, all-black glass screen up front. Despite the plastic back, the brushed silver paint gives the handset an elegant feel. Accentuating the touchscreen is a gold home button.

On the left side, you’ll find the “Cube” launcher button — in other words, the phone’s S-Class user interface — and microSD expansion slot. While the right side features a proprietary connector (TV-out / headset / USB), volume control, and a camera button. Finally, the back includes the 8.0-megapixel camera and power LED flash, which is excellent for low light conditions to say the least.

Overall, this phone feels like a big step up from its predecessor, the LG KU990 Viewty, design wise, and most certainly looks classier. In the next part of our review, we’ll be going over the interface and provide you with pictures taken with the camera.
