Sony Pictures Television switched on Live TV on PS5 for United States players on August 31, handing anyone with a console and a PlayStation account more than 100 live feeds plus on-demand movies and series at no extra monthly fee. Ads pay the bill. No separate download sits in the way, and PlayStation Plus is not required.
Finding the service is as simple as navigating your home screen, selecting the Media tab, tapping the Live TV on PS5 icon, and signing in with the same PlayStation account that is currently associated with your console. Once you’ve completed the handshake with your login, the channel lineup appears and you may begin watching immediately; however, keep in mind that the specific content will vary depending on where you live and may change whenever Sony refreshes the channel grid.

Their film selection is loaded with action, horror, and sci-fi films. MovieSphere by Lionsgate, 50 Cent Action, FilmRise Free Movies, Sony One Horror Hits, and Cinevault are also included for good measure. When it comes to shows, they have a variety of old favorites including Community, The Shield, Hell’s Kitchen, The Walking Dead, Forensic Files, Unsolved Mysteries, Deal or No Deal USA, Fear Factor, and Ice Road Truckers, all supplied by A+E’s History.
Anime also gets its own special treatment, with episodes of Naruto, Sailor Moon, Hunter x Hunter, and Death Note available alongside unique Crunchyroll shows such as Black Clover. FOX Sports, NASCAR, and NBC Sports provide comprehensive coverage for sports lovers. Now, there’s the NFL stream and the UFC, which cover almost every major sport you can think of. For news and weather, there’s NBC News Now, Fox Weather, and FOX LiveNOW.
Interestingly enough, the service says it plans to continue adding new channels and on-demand titles to the mix, with Canada next on the list, with other nations still being considered. For the time being, US viewers can begin watching by clicking on the Media page. It’s right there on the same hardware as your games, ready to be used.
