Four long months and 10,000 popsicle sticks later, Sun Chao of Kaiyuan, northeast China completed his fully-functional bicycle. It measures 1.5m long, 0.55m wide, 0.95m high and weighs in at 25kg. The resourceful craftsman is now considering sending a letter to the Guinness Book of Records to have his unique bicycle acknowledged, after which he plans to start work on an even more daring project, a car made from popsicle sticks.

Sun Chao rode it for 20 minutes, when he unveiled it in the city square, on June 1, and he didn’t complain. The only metal parts used on this unusual bicycle were the chain and bearings.
