First, there was a man hiding SSDs in a scooter, now this person was caught trying to smuggle 239 Intel CPUs, worth nearly $50,000 USD, around his waist. It all started when customs officers at the Gongbei Port, the entry point from Macau to China, noticed a man with a bulky shirt and pants that didn’t quite match his physique.

After removing pieces of clothing, the officers realized that he had taped 239 CPUS, including 13th-generation Intel Core i5 i5-13400F chips, to both his waist and legs. Why didn’t this person just mail them or purchase them in China? Well, by smuggling these computer chips, the man was hoping to save on at least $5,900 in taxes. China charges a 13% tax on most imports, and considering these CPUs were valued at $46,800, it would have saved him quite a bit if the operation was successful.
