Similar to its hardtop counterpart, the all-new MP4-12C Spider uses the same carbon fiber Monocell as the coupe. It’s powered by a 3.8: twin-turbo V8 that now produces 616hp @ 7,500 rpm and 442 lb-ft of torque from 3,000-7,000 rpm, “an increase of 24 hp. Review

It is a fabulous piece of engineering inspired by an F1 team renowned for its fastidious attention to detail. To drive this car is to start to understand the mentality of a company led by a man who tiled a pit garage at the Spa circuit because he couldn’t bear the sight of the concrete floor. The 2013 McLaren 12C Spider feels like a precise instrument, exquisitely crafted and wonderful to use.
