Micron 1.5TB microSD Card First
Micron Technology debuts the i400, an 1.5TB microSD card designed for industrial-grade video security utilizing the world’s first 176-layer 3D NAND. Whether it be real-time video security, internet protocol video security or video security-as-a-service (VSaaS), this card is up for the job.

Just how much is 1.5TB of storage density? A single card can store up to four months or 120 days of video security media locally, thus eliminating the need to continuously upload data to the cloud for primary storage. It’s capable of concurrently handling 4K video recording and up to eight AI events per second, like object detection and classification such as license plate or facial recognition. There’s no word yet on pricing or availability. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to turn this memory card into a functional game console, like this SEGA Dreamcast VMU.

With edge devices generating critical insights for everything from public safety to vehicle autonomy to manufacturing operations, today’s smart applications cannot afford to compromise on latency or quality. Micron’s newest high-performance, ruggedized solutions — our i400 microSD card for video security and automotive ASIL-D-qualified LPDDR5 — will unlock new value for businesses and drive the rapid innovation needed at the intelligent edge,” said Kris Baxter, corporate vice president and general manager of Micron’s Embedded Business Unit.
