Mike Tyson's Punch-Out NES Speedrun World Record
Speedrunner ‘Summoning Alt’ managed to defeat Mike Tyson in Punch-Out!! on the NES in under 2-minutes, setting a new world record. Doing so required 75,000 attempts in nearly 5-years, before he was able to land 21 frame perfect punches (1/60th of a second) and hit 10 perfect dodges as well as ducks.

That’s right, the 1:59.97 is the fastest anyone has ever defeated Mike Tyson in the game as of today. Think of this match divided up into several “phases”, with Tyson’s knockdowns marking the end of each phase. During this record-setting run, he played well during phases 1 and 2, losing only 5 frames across all 16 dodges/ducks , while hitting all 14 frame perfect punches.

Mike Tyson's Punch-Out NES Speedrun World Record

One of the most well earned records I’ve ever seen in speedrunning. Watched you grind this fight relentlessly over the last half decade to reach a time I truly thought wouldn’t happen. Unreal fight that never would’ve happened without the effort and determination needed for such a feat,” said one commenter.
