Finally, Netflix has announced a release date for its long awaited live-action Cowboy Bebop series, and it’s November 19, 2021. Developed by André Nemec and written by Christopher Yost, the series stars John Cho (Spike Spiegel), Mustafa Shakir, Daniella Pineda (Faye Valentine), Elena Satine (Julia), and Alex Hassell (Vicious). This reboot was actually teased back in 2017 before being picked up by Netflix a year later, so the 10-episode series could be expanded further, depending on its reception. For those familiar with the original Japanese television series, you’ll know that it consisted of 26-episodes, eventually inspiring two manga series and an anime film, the latter which was released in the US during 2003. Since the premise focuses on a ragtag group of bounty hunters chasing down criminals across the solar system, we can imagine this series continuing for quite some time.

Based on the worldwide phenomenon from Sunrise Inc., Cowboy Bebop is the jazz-inspired, genre-bending story of Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine and Radical Ed: a rag-tag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals. They’ll even save the world…for the right price,” said Netflix.
