Nomad unveils its latest creation, the Leather Mag Wallet. This combines Horween leather craftsmanship and Apple’s Find My technology, priced at a somewhat reasonable $80.

Nomad’s wallet, made from rich Horween leather, comes in sharp black or warm rustic brown, built to pick up a unique patina over time—like your favorite leather jacket that just gets better with age. As they put it on their site, these wallets are made to endure, each scratch and scuff telling your story. At just 9mm thick and 1.7 ounces, it stays slim, keeping your iPhone’s sleek vibe intact without any extra bulk.

Functionality is where the Leather Mag Wallet starts to shine. It can hold up to four standard credit cards, though early testers like ZDNet’s Kayla Solino noted that four cards can feel snug, with two or three being the sweet spot for comfort. A notch at the bottom and a subtle lip at the top make card retrieval a breeze, a small but thoughtful touch. The wallet attaches to any MagSafe-compatible iPhone or case via strong magnets, ensuring a secure fit without interfering with credit card magnetic stripes—a concern Nomad explicitly addresses: “The integrated magnets will not demagnetize or interfere with credit cards.”

The integration of Apple’s Find My network is a first for Nomad’s MagSafe wallet lineup. Unlike Apple’s own MagSafe Wallet, which only shows its last known location when disconnected from the iPhone, Nomad’s offering includes a built-in Bluetooth chip and battery, enabling global tracking via Apple’s crowdsourced network. If another iPhone comes within its 147-foot Bluetooth range, the wallet’s location updates in the Find My app. One caveat: it lacks Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology, so you won’t get the pinpoint precision of an AirTag.

Powering this tracking capability is a rechargeable battery rated for up to five months on a single charge. When it’s time to juice up, simply place the wallet on a Qi or MagSafe charger, and the Find My app displays the battery status. This eliminates the hassle of coin battery replacements, a common pain point with other trackers. “The embedded Tracking Card is rechargeable with any Qi, Qi2, or MagSafe wireless charger,” Nomad explains, highlighting the wallet’s user-friendly design.

Aesthetics and practicality aside, the wallet has its limitations. It lacks a dedicated cash compartment, which might disappoint those who still carry bills. The four-card capacity, while adequate for most, may not stretch enough for heavy card carriers, and the leather may loosen slightly over time to accommodate. At $80, it’s pricier than alternatives like ESR’s Geo MagSafe Wallet ($34) or even Apple’s Find My-equipped MagSafe Wallet ($59, often discounted).
