NTT DoCoMo has announced that it will be releasing a new line of phones that feature a push-to-talk button in Japan. This technology was first introduced in the US by Nextel. Now the only difference between the Japanese version is that they charge per push, approximately 5 yen. Frequent users also have the option of signing up for their unlimited plan at 1,000 yen per month.

“This technology is being seen as a major revenue earning opportunity by Telecom operators worldwide in an increasingly competitive market. It can be vouched by the fact that this technology has helped Nextel, a major mobile operator in the US to gain a loyal base of business customers and also to clock one of the U.S. industry’s highest average revenues per user.”
