Chinese Academy of Sciences Rocket Vertical Landing
Watch out SpaceX, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) rocket successfully completed a vertical landing test at sea in in Haiyang, East China’s Shandong Province. The prototype managed to fly at an altitude of over 1,000 meters (3,281 feet) before descending into a smooth hover. It then decelerated using engine reverse thrust and touched down steadily with a landing precision of under 10 meters (33 feet).

Photographer Valter Binotto managed to captured a strange red ring of light that appeared in the skies above Italy for milliseconds. This phenomenon is known as an ELVE, which are massive red halos that occur high in the atmosphere at around 100 km (62 mi) above active thunderstorms. They can be as large as 400 km (248 mi) in diameter and last just a mere millisecond.
