PORTAL Poland Virtual Bridge Stargate
No, this isn’t a Stargate, but actual installations, called “PORTAL”, located next to Vilnius Train Station and Lublin’s central square in Poland. At first glance, this may seem to be just a circular door or decoration, although you’ll see a large screen and cameras upon closer inspection. The latter enables it to broadcast live images between the two Polish cities over an internet connection.

First unveiled on May 26th, this virtual bridge was designed to be a community accelerator that brings people of different cultures together while encouraging them to rethink the meaning of unity. The engineers behind this project were inspired by the science-fiction symbol, enabling a person to travel and experience reality from different places.

The PORTAL was an impressive and exciting project from the very beginning. From the initial idea to the creation of an interactive bridge connecting cities, it was a complex task that required specific knowledge and technologies. From design and 3D modelling, to digital content development and logistic challenges – a project like this requires a broad and multifunctional team,” said Adas Meskenas, director of LinkMenų fabrikas.
