According to this comparison, the new PlayStation 3 Slim slightly trails its predecessor in both disc loading and startup — “same 7200RPM hard drive installed on both and firmware 2.80 installed.” Video after the break.
It makes little sense that the new unit would have a different, slightly underpowered motherboard, so the rumor is that the two configurations might have different hard drives.
