Ray-Ban Stories Smartglasses Teardown
Ever wonder what’s actually inside Ray-Ban Stories smartglasses? If so, this teardown should be of interest, as it reveals the two 5MP cameras, speakers, microphones and more, all crammed into the stylish frames. Unfortunately, if something should break, these smartglasses cannot be repaired at home since even attempting to remove the hinges could damage the sensitive PCBs.

Hardware wise, the frame’s temples contain speakers and microphones, which are used for Facebook Assistant voice control, while the right temple has a capacitive touchpad to either take a 30 second video by tapping once or take a photo by pressing down. The cameras, microphones, speakers, and touchpad are all connected to an optimized Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

You’d be hard-pressed to find a more interesting engineering problem in the company than the one that’s at the intersection of these two dynamics, building glasses [with onboard technology] that people are comfortable wearing on their faces for extended periods of time…and willing to wear them around friends, family, and others nearby,” said Li-Chen Miller, VP Product Management.
