Real-Life Pokedex ChatGPT Pokemon
Gamer Abe Haskins has built what could be the world’s first real-life functional Pokedex, powered by ChatGPT. The ex-Google engineer wanted this device to look similar to the one found in the anime, be able to identify Pokemon, and have a robotic voice.

A 3D-printer was used to fabricate the red shell, which houses the camera, speaker, battery and the electronics. Once everything was assembled, ChatGPT-4 analyzes images of captured Pokemon and then checks them against the official API containing information on all of the creatures. PlayHT, an AI Voice generator, managed to accurately clone Stellate’s voice from the show.

I’m a big fan of prop and replica makers who take ideas from media and recreate them aesthetically in real life, however these projects tend to be visual clones only and are largely non-functioning. I liked the idea of doing the same thing, but focusing on the tech—can we really make this work?,” said Haskins to Gizmodo.
