RoboCar Devbot

We have seen the future of racing, and it will be driverless, starting with the RoboCar. Officially called “DevBot,” this autonomous racer is modeled after a Le Mans prototype with full canopy, while the body is full carbon fiber to keep the weight down. This prototype has an exposed engine cover, but as you can hear in the video, a whine of an electric motor is present. The team says that the prototype boasts the same drivetrain, sensors, computation systems, and communication tech as the RoboCar concept revealed in March. “DevBot doesn’t look anything like the Robocar design, which was penned by ‘Tron: Legacy’ designer Daniel Simon. But since this is only a development mule, it doesn’t necessarily have to. The DevBot has a cockpit so a human can pilot it, but expect future iterations to ditch the driver space just like the concept. A final Robocar design will be revealed later this year,” according to Motor Trend.
