Rocket Lab plans on using a modified Sikorsky S-92 helicopter to catch their Electron rocket booster in mid-air as it returns from space. Once the booster is slowed using parachutes, the helicopter will secure it and bring the captured stage back to its New Zealand-based Auckland Production Complex where engineers will process and then assess it for possible re-use.
Catch Me If You Can? Challenge accepted. In two days' time, here's how we'll attempt to catch Electron with a helicopter as the rocket returns from space.

What will the Electron rocket be transporting? A science research satellite from OHB Sweden for the Swedish National Space Agency (SNSA). This Mesospheric Airglow / Aersosol Tomography and Spectroscopy (MATS) satellite will be used to investigate atmospheric waves and better understand how the upper layer of Earth’s atmosphere interacts with wind as well as weather patterns closer to ground.
