Design firm Carlo Ratti Associate partnered with Swiss furniture company Vitra to create “Lift-Bit”, an internet-connected, shape-shifting sofa. Its modular design enables one to seamlessly transform it into a chair, lounger, bed, and lots more. The prototype system is comprised of a series of single, upholstered hexagonal cushions of sorts, each motorized using actuators.
