Announced over a year ago, Vodafone has finally confirmed the Sharp GX40 as an upcoming handset. This long overdue phone boasts a 1.3 Megapixel camera, 2.0″ TFT display, Bluetooth, MP3 player, dedicated music keys, and an FM tuner. Its expected to cost around $422 USD without contract and will be released early Q1 2006 in select Vodafone coverage areas.

“It’s not really what we’d hoped for.. after all, handsets such as the GX20, GX30 and 902 were pretty much the best handsets on the market when they were launched.. these were devices that pioneered many technologies and features and were class leaders.”
