Stratolaunch Talon-A TA-0 Test Vehicle Hypersonic
The Stratolaunch Talon-A (TA-0) test vehicle has been officially been unveiled and will be used to test and validate Roc’s release system as well as characterize the separation dynamics of the Talon vehicle. Plus, it was also the first time the company mated the TA-0 to Roc’s pylon, which is located on the center wing.

This pylon is going to be used to carry and release Talon-A hypersonic vehicles, with the hardware comprised of a mini-wing and adapter made from aluminum and carbon fiber skins. It weighs in at approximately 8,000 pounds and takes up 14 feet of Roc’s 95-foot center wingspan. TA-0 is not going to be powered in flight, although future iterations will be rocket-powered, autonomous, reusable testbeds carrying customizable payloads at speeds above Mach 5. When Lockheed Martin’s SR-72 is finally revealed, the aircraft is reportedly going to be the fastest ever.

Stratolaunch Talon-A TA-0 Test Vehicle Hypersonic

We’re proud to reveal our first test vehicle to the public and our key stakeholders. TA-0 represents the immense progress our company has made toward hypersonic flight in a short period of time. Our pace of development parallels the nation’s critical need for hypersonic test capabilities, and we are putting forth every effort toward becoming a national test asset for our government and commercial customers in 2023,” said Dr. Zachary Krevor, Chief Executive Officer and President at Stratolaunch.
