Fidget spinners come in all shapes and sizes, but so far, none of them replicate the feel of a real phone. Introducing “Substitute Phone,” designed by Vienna-based Klemens Schillinger. This fidget spinner-like device is shaped like a real smartphone and designed to help addicts overcome withdrawal symptoms, such as constantly reaching in their product or bag for a handset. “The Substitute Phone features stone beads incorporated into a smartphone-shaped and weighted acetal body, which allows users to perform scroll, zoom and swipe motions. The absence of digital function is used to wean addicts off of the repetitive ‘checking behavior’ routine created by smartphones,” according to Hype Beast.
