LEGO Atari 2600 Set Icons 10306
After weeks of leaks, the LEGO Atari 2600 set was officially announced today. It’s based on the four-switch revision of the Atari VCS / 2600, which debuted in 1980, and features the console in brick form and a joystick that articulates to feel just like the original. There’s even a bonus pop-up scene from an 80’s gaming room, bringing emories of hours spent trying to finish a game or get a new high score.

The LEGO Atari 2600 video game console set (10306) has allegedly leaked ahead of its release this summer. It celebrates the console’s 40th / 45th anniversary and reportedly costs $199.99 USD. Just like the LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System, this set also comes with at least one brick version of the famous CX40 joystick, complete with a red plastic button. No other details have been leaked, but more information is sure to come out in the coming month(s).

Centipede Recharged Atari
Centipede: Recharged modernizes the Atari classic, and gives the game a neon aesthetic with the same gameplay that you’ve grown to love. Players simply have to shoot the centipedes as they descend the and carefully avoid the mushrooms they leave behind. What sets this game apart from the original are new power-ups dropped by the spiders, like explosive bullets, spread shots, and even a railgun.

Apparently, the 1982 Atari 2600 game “Air Raid” was released in extremely limited quantities, with possibly just a handful still having the original box. For those who’ve never heard of it, it’s basically a shoot ’em up published for the Atari 2600 by Men-A-Vision, and the cartridge is a blue T-handle design with a picture of flying saucers attacking a futuristic city. One of these are donated to a Goodwill Industries store in Texas.

Another day, another new game streaming service, but Plex Arcade went the retro gaming route. The company partnered with Atari to bring gamers a fully licensed catalog of classic titles right out of the box, including Centipede, Lunar Lander, Motor Psycho, Missile Command, Combat, Dark Chambers, Desert Falcon, Food Fight, Haunted House and more. Since these aren’t the latest and greatest games, a subscription will cost just $2.99 per month.

Atari VCS Cyberpunk 2077
Believe it or not, the long awaited Atari VCS is more powerful than anticipated, as it allegedly can run Cyberpunk 2077 without even using a streaming service, like Stadia or GeForce Now. Gamer Kevin Kenson discovered that the included Windows 10 OS needed quite a few features disabled as well as settings tweaked before being able to play the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077. One caveat: the framerate is definitely not something you want to be looking at for hours on end.
