United Airlines Flight 328 Boeing 777 Engine Failure
United Airlines Flight 328 managed to safely land at Denver International Airport on Saturday after the right engine on a Boeing 777-200 failed, leaving a string of debris from the plane scattered on the ground. This plane, with 231 passengers and 10 crew on board, was heading to Honolulu when it suffered an engine failed soon after takeoff, but thankfully, there were no reports of injuries, either on the plane or the ground.

Boeing F-15EX Fighter Jet
Boeing’s new F-15EX fighter jet successfully completed its first flight and the first deliveries for the U.S. Air Force are set to begin later this quarter. The aircraft took off and landed from St. Louis Lambert International Airport, completing a 90-minute test flight before returning to the airport. F-15 Chief Test Pilot Matt Giese studied its multi-role jet’s avionics, advanced systems and software, while a test team monitoring the data collected during the flight confirmed it performed as planned.

Sikorsky-Boeing Defiant X Helicopter
Sikorsky and Boeing today unveiled their newest advanced helicopter for the U.S. Army’s Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft competition, called DEFIANT X. It’s touted as the fastest, most maneuverable and survivable assault helicopter to date. This helicopter is capable of flying twice as far and fast as its predecessor, the Black Hawk helicopter. The engineering team is testing it in a digital combat environment to prove itself the most survivable platform for mission requirements. Read more for a video and additional information.

Boeing Loyal Wingman High-Speed Taxi
Boeing Australia and the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) have successfully completed the first high-speed taxi test of the unmanned Loyal Wingman drone in preparation for first flight. Crews monitored the aircraft’s performance and instrumentation from a ground control station to verify the functionality while the vehicle reached accelerated speeds. This uncrewed aircraft is currently undergoing low-, medium-, and high-speed taxi testing at a remote test location in Australia. Read more for the video and additional information.

The Boeing Loyal Wingman drone aircraft, which is being developed with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), moved under its own power for the first time. It reached a maximum speed of 16mph on the ground and demonstrated several activities while maneuvering as well as stopping on command. A total of three Loyal Wingman prototypes will form the Airpower Teaming System that Boeing will offer customers worldwide. Read more for two videos and additional information.

Boeing Loyal Wingman Drone
Boeing reveals the first unmanned Loyal Wingman aircraft prototype designed for the Royal Australian Air Force. Their main goal is to extend and protect existing aircraft, making them the foundation for the global Boeing Airpower Teaming System aircraft to be developed for other global forces. It uses AI-powered systems to fly independently or in support of manned aircraft while maintaining safe distance between other aircraft.

DARPA ALIAS Robot Fly Plane
DARPA’s Aircrew Labor In-Cockpit Automation System (ALIAS) robot consists of a single arm capable of operating a plane’s controls, and not only doubles as an onboard trainer, but as a co-pilot as well. It’s currently designed as a drop-in avionics and mechanics package that can be quickly deployed to a wide variety of fixed / rotor aircraft, whether it be a Cessna or B-52. Boeing 777X First Flight
Boeing’s 777X jetliner took to the skies this past weekend in front of thousands at Paine Field in Everett, Washington, at 10:09 a.m. local time for a successful three hour, 51 minute flight over Washington state before landing at Seattle’s Boeing Field. This new widebody aircraft will deliver 10 percent lower fuel use and emissions and 10 percent lower operating costs than the competition through advanced aerodynamics, thanks to the latest generation carbon-fiber composite wing and the most advanced commercial engine ever built, GE Aviation’s GE9X.
