Custom LEGO Game Boy with Cartridge Slot
Gamer Nick Lever has created a 1:1 scale LEGO Game Boy, complete with a brick cartridge slot, pressable D-pad and more. It consists of 354 parts and just 115 unique parts, while any elements that are not outward facing can be substituted for the same part in a different color. There are four free games built in two different ways including Pokemon Red, Tetris and Zelda.

Programmer Nilius Julius wanted to do something really special for his friend’s wedding, and what better way to do so than a custom Nintendo Game Boy cartridge? This isn’t a simple rebranding of an existing game, but rather a custom program that was written in C using GBDK-2020. As for the box, it was designed in Photoshop before being printed on a sheet of A3 photo paper and cutting the main image out.

This capture cartridge slots between the Game Boy and cartridge, as it connects to the console’s memory bus, utilizing a Raspberry Pi RP2040 microcontroller to emulate the game you’re playing.
