Most gamers probably don’t remember Zelda’s Adventure on the Philips CD-i console system, as it is a top-down game that follows a non-traditional storyline, in which link has been captured by Ganon and Zelda has to collect the seven celestial signs in order to rescue him. John Lay has developed a complete port of this title for the Game Boy, but with a few modifications.
It was developed in GB Studio and designed to play like Link’s Awakening, with some features from both Oracle of Ages as well as Oracle of Seasons. Zelda’s Adventure, released in 1996, is known as one of the worst video games ever made by many reviewers and its live-action cut scenes might have contributed to that. Play the GB version here now.

Zelda’s Adventure looked interesting and I thought it would be fun to play on a portable system. I chose the Game Boy because of the existing Zelda games on the system. The game sticks to the aesthetics of Link’s Awakening, but also incorporates some features from Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons,” said the developer.
