New Zealand’s Fiordlands is home to the Kea parrot species, and those who have encountered them probably already know that they are mischievous by nature. One of these birds proved that by snagging the Verhuel family’s GoPro camera when they weren’t paying attention, as they were taking a break from a hiking trip along the Keplar Track. The device was placed on a fence to capture video of the wildlife, that is until…it went on a short journey.

This new chip delivers far improved image quality and quick video frame rates that enable it to capture ultra smooth 5.3K video at 60 frames per second, 4K video at 120 frames per second and 2.7K video at an a silky 240 frames per second. The all-new GoPro Hero 10 Black has leaked ahead of the official reveal, and this flagship action camera builds upon its predecessor. Featuring a GP2 processor and a 23-megapixel sensor capable of shooting 5.3K/60fps, 4K/120fps, and 2.7K/240fps footage. No other details have been revealed, but if pricing follows the Hero 9 Black at launch, expect it to cost around $449, and that’s without the cloud service or accessories. GoPro action cameras have been around in 2004, and since that time, many rumors have been circulating about Apple acquiring the company, but none have come to fruition. If the iPhone maker did make their own action camera, it might look something like the AirCam, which sports an Apple Watch-like display up front for taking selfies.
