Frozen Sand

With the power of computers these days, it’s hard to believe any photo is real, but this one, captured by photographer Joshua Nowicki, most certainly is. While walking the shore of Lake Michigan (St. Joseph area) last week, he stumbled upon dozens of small sand towers rising out of the beach, some over a 1-feet-tall. These layered creations are formed when blasts of wind slowly erode layers of frozen sand, much like how a river might slowly create a canyon. Continue reading for more pictures.
