Paramount Pictures debuted the first Top Gun: Maverick trailer at San Diego Comic Con today and Tom Cruise will once again be flying high on the big screen. This movie takes place 34 years after the original film, and Maverick is the new flight instructor of the Top Gun school, guiding Goose’s son to become a pilot. The actor made a surprise visit to the convention on Thursday to promote the upcoming sequel during the Terminator: Dark Fate panel and said: “I felt it was my responsibility to deliver for you.” Read more for the trailer and additional information.
As you can see in the trailer above, Cruise’s famous character, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, is serving as the new flight instructor of the Top Gun school, and of course is seen wearing his infamous Ray-Ban sunglasses, as he faces off against a new enemy — drones. Besides To Cruise and Val Kilmer, newcomers to the series include Miles Teller, who is set to play the now-grown son of “Goose” in the original film, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, Jennifer Connelly and Manny Jacinto.
