Akio Toyoda unveiled the Toyota GR H2 Racing Concept at Circuit de la Sarthe’s Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) in western France today. This prototype comes after the ACO, organizer of Le Mans 24 Hours, stated that they would allow hydrogen-engine vehicles to compete in the race’s hydrogen category.
Using a hydrogen-powered Corolla in the Super Taikyu Series since Round 3 of the 2021 season and the IDEMITSU 1500 SUPER ENDURANCE 2022 at Thailand’s Chang International Circuit provided invaluable insight for Toyota engineers to better realize a carbon-neutral society as they look forward to taking on the challenge of a new generation of Le Mans 24 races. The GR H2 Racing Concept measures 5,100 mm in length and is 2,050 mm wide, powered by a hydrogen engine as well as a hybrid system.
