Universal Pictures has teamed up with SEGA to produce a live action ‘Shinobi’ movie based on the video game series. Sam Hargrave will be directing this film for Universal, while Ken Kobayashi (Sunny, Move On) is writing the screenplay adaptation of the arcade game, which made its public debut back in 1987.
Plot details have not yet been revealed, but it will most likely follow Joe Musashi, a man who worked himself up to become the most skilled and respected ninja of his clan. Crime syndicate Zeed rises to power and shatters his peaceful existence in the mountains of Japan, as the group aims to revert Japan into the Sengoku period of civil war when the ninja thrived. There’s no word yet on when filming will begin or a possible release date.
