Nihon Car gives us a first look at Mitsubishi’s “i” car (Tokyo Auto Salon ’06), powered by a turbocharged 3-cylinder MIVEC engine that generates 64hp @ 6000 rpm and 69 ft-lb torque @ 3000rpm. More pictures and a short video after the jump.
The 3B20 aluminium-block I3 powerplant has a displacement of 660 cc, a DOHC cylinder head with MIVEC variable valve timing and an intercooled turbocharger…use of a rear-engined layout allowed Mitsubishi to incorporate a larger front crumple zone, in order to meet current safety legislation without compromising interior space
