
In a closed test tunnel in Wuhan, a production Voyah Passion S electric crossover entered a curved section at roughly 130 kilometers per hour and stayed on the surface until it was driving across the ceiling. Drivers held about 16 degrees of steering lock the entire way, generating the continuous force that pressed the tires into the wall and then the roof before bringing the vehicle back down the opposite side in one unbroken run.
Voyah pushed the entire sequence as a single continuous take, putting to rest any doubts about any of the computer effects people believed they used. A separate video of an earlier run with a camouflaged prototype floating around shows the car losing touch near the top and just dropping to the floor, putting an end to rumors that Voyah was only dealing with digital composites.

This feat is strangely familiar, since a 2010 Mercedes-Benz commercial showing Michael Schumacher allegedly driving an SLS AMG on the walls of a similar tunnel made most people doubt how much of it was real, although Voyah’s uses a considerably larger five-meter electric crossover. It’s a heavy one, as this is a production car that comes with a complete battery pack and all of the typical smart-driving features.
The car’s design mostly impacts whether or not it remains stuck. Speed and curve radius are important; at 130 km/h, the Passion S will hang on a curve with a radius of up to approximately 133 meters. But if you push it tighter, the curves start to produce very severe forces; a 40-meter radius gives you about 3.3 times gravity, while a 20-meter radius gives you up to 6.6 times gravity. One advantage Voyah has is a low-mounted battery pack, which keeps the center of gravity low, which is good for the suspension and body structure as you transition from floor to wall and then back to ceiling, as well as this all-wheel drive dual-motor setup, which can instantly get power to all four tires, and the electronic traction system, which keeps things running smoothly even if the car is upside down.
The electric powertrain helps here because you don’t have to worry about things that a traditional engine would, such as a running fuel tank or an oil sump that could starve the bearings. Even when the automobile is upside down, all of the sealed electric drive units and pressurized coolant loops continue to function. The Passion S that managed the loop is the 475 kW dual-motor version with an 800-volt design. It has an 81.6 or 98.1 kWh battery and measures around 5 meters in length with a 3 meter wheelbase. The most powerful models include adaptive air suspension, which helps manage body movement under varying loads. Voyah positions the Passion S as a sporty electric crossover, priced at 229,900 yuan ($34,200) in China, putting it in direct rivalry with other large Chinese EVs of similar size.
